Once on the edge of extinction in the lower 48, reduced to a only small group of bears in Yellowstone, grizzlies have made a remarkable recovery under the protection of the Endangered Species Act. But the return of the grizzly is a conservation success story that comes with a price. Today, the bears are everywhere; rebounding out of the backcountry and into back yards, invading ranches, venturing into the outskirts of town. Yellowstone can no longer contain their wanderings nor satisfy their growing appetites. Faced with grizzlies at every turn, is it time to remove them from the endangered species list?

Award-winning filmmaker Shane Moore spent more than two years filming the grizzlies in the Yellowstone backcountry and also interviewing scientists, rangers, wildlife managers and ranchers about their interactions with the bears. What will it take to live with the fiercest predator in modern history? The issues are personal to anyone who lives in the area, and life or death for the bears.
