The award-winning producers of NOVA--and renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson--bring you the very latest in cutting-edge science with NOVA scienceNOW.

This episode of NOVA scienceNOW covers:

Saving Hubble
The Hubble Space Telescope--an orbiting eye on the universe that has greatly advanced our cosmic knowledge--is in need of repairs never intended to be performed in orbit. Neil de Grasse Tyson visits the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and gets special access to the astronauts training for one of the most complex missions ever attempted.

Gangster Birds
Cowbirds have always had the reputation as "lazy parents" because they lay their eggs in other birds' nests. But now ecologist Jeff Hoover has designed a clever experiment that might debunk that notion completely and uncover how these birds are getting away with bad behavior.

Profile--Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa:
It's been two decades since Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa jumped the border fence separating Mexico and the U.S. and established himself as a farmworker in southern California. Today he's an assistant professor of neurosurgery and oncology at Johns Hopkins University, where he is in hot pursuit of a breakthrough in the treatment of brain cancer.

How Memory Works
For much of his life Henry Molaison was unable to form new memories. Suffering from severe epilepsy, Molaison underwent a risky treatment that fixed his epilepsy but caused severe memory impairment. Subsequently, Henry allowed dozens of researchers to question and test him. Now, though no longer living, Molaison's brain is the subject of still more scrutiny, helping to create the most detailed map of memory in the brain yet.
